Too Much School Work Already?
Usually in the fall, I get calls from parents that they need to come and see me to say. There is a sense of urgency in her voice. The story goes something like this. Their students got up early and begin the work of the school at 8:30 clock in the morning. They held a short lunch break and get it back until 4:30 or 5:00. In some cases it works a little longer. Day after day this experience is repeated. The parents believe that if this continues, will burn it, or at least angry at their own school experience.
So, what can I say? Actually, I usually ask a few questions for a sense of what is behind this massive effort.
Overall, I found it better to be busy for students, as not doing enough. They tend to better manage their time, there is a lot to do to waste time not an option. One of my clients, a senior preparing for his black belt in tae kwon do test told me that he had never been so far, is done in spite of extensive practice required to complete the final exam.
A major difference between the student and the one I described earlier, the passion, strong, was the driving motivation for his full program. Due to the great joy he got from the training, management experience and his well-deserved recognition, he does not need to be encouraged or forced into this form. In other words, let a student who really loves horses, or tell us rarely say skateboarding, parents, and probably never will: “Now go ride your horse” or “I want to see you on your skateboard in half 1 hours “.” Now go! “It is not.
So the one thing that I’m trying to decide. If it’s a passion that is behind a long school day, it probably is OK. If not, what would be different?
There are three common causes that are at play: perfectionism, an unbalanced desire to please and fear.
Perfectionism is strange to watch. It is believed that says: “If a job is worth, it’s worth, and I am the only one who knows what” good “.” Art is the opposite of the Nike slogan “Just do it.” What is strange, “perfectionism” is not always in a context.
