Home School Accountability – Try Morning Meeting
Never underestimate a teenager’s ability to work to avoid. Sometimes mistakes are intentional, many times young people just focused on other things (like her hair or her new shoes), and they forget about trivial things like math problems or research.
It would be nice if people grow up, only one day and suddenly responsible. Nice, but unlikely. It is far more common that young people are slow to take hold. It takes time and lots of practice, often with a constant shape and design of their parents. Children do not begin on the first day of the ninth class as responsible adults. You begin the process of responsible adults.
Disclaimer: I was raised two boys and I are unconfirmed reports that this process may take longer for boys than for girls … often heard in the 20s. This does not apply to all boys, but not shocked if your children do not magically become sexually mature at the age of 18 years. It’s just not always how clean and tidy.
, Can help with the morning post session idea. If your child every day, you can “responsibility index” form and shape of their every day. You can read a quick 15 or 30 minutes you can change the time you need to assess the situation and correct behavior, shaping and molding your child’s responsibility as you go.
The meeting in the morning can help your child to keep things as they “forgot” no school for a week – or month – and suddenly hopelessly behind. A daily meeting is a big goal. In practice, however, a label is missing here and there. We are all busy people with busy lives, after all! But if you miss one or two days, you will still benefit. Each session is feedback to the children. If you discover a few days eventually returned to the meeting and any missed assignments.
In “real life” after school, adults are often confronted with frequent inspections. In our company we try a daily meeting with our employees. Although not always happen, it usually takes, and it can be to find any missed assignments.
If you fall behind, or if you tend to see your students overwhelmed by an insurmountable mountain of work, the introduction of a “Morning Meeting” is the perfect answer to any penalties.
